Fixed/Mobile Substitution

Fixed/Mobile Substitution (FMS) is when customers choose to use a mobile phone (cellular phone) in place of a fixed, wired, POTS telephone. As customers consider FMS, several factors come into play, significantly:

1. There are pockets where the indoor mobile coverage does not provide an adequate substitute for the fixed network.
2. Unacceptable costs associated with proportionate increase in minutes on a mobile service from those on the lower cost fixed-line service.

A TelEvolution solution using Wi-fi dual-mode phones or customized TelEvolution adapters enables our partners to offer viable FMS solutions to supplement the customer's existing mobile phone service. The customer retains lower minute bundles (and therfore lower cost) with their mobile phone carrier, while enjoying low-cost VoIP calls conveniently when at home or compatible hotspot.

One Device: This type of solution provides a single wireless dual-mode phone and a personal number. In the home, it uses WiFi or Bluetooth to connect to a DSL service.

Fixed Phone Adapter: In this scenario, the customer uses their standard cellular telephone when outside the home, and an ordinary fixed phone within the home. The user could even switch off their mobile device when home. This has the benefit of providing the convenience of a standard "household" phone for use at home, without the cost of a separate service. Calls placed from home would not consume wireless airtime and would offer fixed-line quality.

Fixed/Mobile Convergence

Fixed/Mobile Convergence (FMC) is when services or applications are integrated, such as voice mail or converged calling and directory systems that embrace fixed lines, VoIP and cellular connections. One example is a One Number service with common (consolidated) voicemail and "SimRing" feature that rings the cellular phone (or phones) at the same time as the fixed line.

Visual Voicemail or Random Access Voicemail is the process of adding a visual aspect to mobile phone voicemail and allowing users to listen to their messages in the order of their choice. In the recent months, Visual Voicemail has received a lot of attention with the iPhone. TelEvolution enables Visual Voicemail for any cell phone.

Voice SMS

Voice SMS is a simple and fast way to communicate when typing is not an option. TelEvolution enables Voice SMS capabilities for any cell phone user, on any carrier, without special software or carrier-specific agreements.
