Transparent VOIP Bypass

The Background

Many enterprises are unwilling to forego their existing base of legacy equipment in order to protect their investment and maintain existing user habits. Yet they wish to have access to IP-based call termination services. The need is to cut communications costs by providing VoIP capability to such customers in a transparent way to end-users. TelEvolution technology provides a turnkey solution to seamlessly and transparently introduce IP-based calling to customers with legacy equipment.

The Solution

TelEvolution integrated devices constitute the ideal solution to connect legacy telephone equipment to IP-based call termination services. In this scenario, external PBX trunks that would typically be connected to a CO are instead passed-thru the the TelEvolution device. The device can be connected between existing CO lines and analog PBX trunks, analog Key system lines, or even simple analog phones. The TelEvolution device automatically performs self-configuration, automatically identifying the proper telephone number of the CO line and registering to the IP network. It can be provided as a complete turnkey solution with TelEvolution Hosted VoIP as the default Long Distance carrier. IP calling is seamless and transparent to end-users.

With the TelEvolution solution, the existence of IP-based PBX, expensive IP Phones, or other complicated IP telephony infrastructure is not a requirement to achieve significant national and international toll call cost reduction through the use of VoIP for international and long distance calling. With the TelEvolution solution, customers can obtain these cost reduction benefits without sacrificing the reliability and other benefits of traditional analog telephone lines and without adding additional ports to their existing equipment.

Calls are automatically diverted to IP-based services as desired. The device performs both dial-plan analysis as as well as dynamic number lookups to identify IP-end points. End-users simply dial normally and the use of IP is transparent. Customers determine which types of calls should be directed to IP and the devices automatically handle 911 calls, other local services, and power-outage, or Internet outage conditions.
